In 2021 the City of Ogden and their local economic development organization, Ogden Legacy adopted a housing goal of 150 new housing units in the Ogden CSD by 2033. A midway target of 75 units by December 31, 2027, was established.
Last week it was announced that two market rate rental housing projects in Ogden were receiving State workforce housing tax credits. Twenty-eight new housing units will be created as a result of these two projects. Both projects will be started or completed by December 31, 2027, the midway target date. These projects along with the seventy-two units of new housing already completed or underway bring the progress to date to 100, well ahead of the target of 75!
Margaret Liston, Mayor of Ogden explains “I am grateful for the efforts the City Council, our Ogden Legacy partners, and the private development community that have stepped up to assist us in getting two thirds of the way to our aggressive housing goal of a 150 new housing units in our school district by 2033. We have been able to welcome new people to the Ogden area and grow our tax base as a result of these investments.”
“There is a dedicated group of people representing the City, Ogden Legacy, Boone County Economic Development, and the private sector that has met at least monthly since 2021 to track, monitor, and encourage housing in the Ogden CSD. The group is optimistic in the ability to hit the 150 goal by 2033.” states Matt VanSickle, Chairperson of the Ogden Housing Taskforce.
